About Ad Meliora
Classical Scholé Academy
Ad Meliora (Latin): toward the pursuit of better things
Scholé (Greek): restfulness in learning
Ad Meliora Classical Scholé Academy exists to support and partner with Christian classical homeschool families. We aim to provide a beautiful and restful community where students can flourish in classical education and homeschooling families are supported with the fellowship and resources needed to pursue it with excellence.
Community Meetings
Our main community day is Friday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Christ Community Church in Leawood. This meeting includes a morning convocation, four classroom blocks, a community lunch, and afternoon enrichment classes.
In addition, some classes meet on our secondary community day, Wednesday afternoons, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at homes in Overland Park. This gathering is less formal and provides 3 classroom blocks to further instruction while offering students additional opportunities to build relationships and foster community.
Curriculum
At Ad Meliora, students are immersed in a classical academic program, utilizing biblically integrated curriculum, while building meaningful community and pursuing restful, lifelong learning. Fun events, field trips, and community parties are incorporated throughout the year to enrich the experience of each learner.
We provide all materials, instruction, and feedback/grading needed for a whole year's curriculum per subject. All classes taught on community days will be extended with assignments at home to provide a full subject curriculum for the year.
Family Commitments
We aim to build community among both students and parents, therefore we rely on each family to support the academy in some way. See our family commitments here.

Mission
To provide a beautiful and restful community where students can flourish in classical education and homeschooling families are supported with the fellowship and resources needed to pursue it with excellence.
Guiding Principles
-
Prioritize Community: Classical learning is best done in community, where knowledge is honed through dialogue, virtue is formed by example, and both parents and students are strengthened through fellowship
-
Seek Beauty: The learning environment should seek to promote beauty and reflect an aspect of God's design through well-ordered and integrated studies
-
Invite Restfulness: Our community pursues scholé, which refers to restful learning through contemplation, conversation, and reflection
-
Provide Classroom Instruction: Students receive weekly instruction as well as assignments that cover a whole year's curriculum per subject. All assignments or tests will be corrected by the academy teachers
-
Equip Academy Teachers: We deeply value our teachers and are committed to ensuring they are both qualified and well-equipped. They engage in continuing education which is also recommended for all educating parents in our community
